One final cruise ship-related post and then I’ll move on. The cruise ship Zuiderdam featured plenty of food and good entertainment. In particular, they had an excellent house band, The BB King Blues All Stars who performed every night in the ship’s BB King Blues Club. While I was not able to find any Youtube performances from the particular group that we saw, I did find a video (click here) from a similarly named group that played on the Eurodam last year. (All of Holland’s cruise ships are named “something or other” – dam.)
One song that the Zuiderdam All Stars absolutely nailed was Al Green’s Love and Happiness. (If you recall, I discussed seeing Reverend Al a few years back at the BB King Blues Club on Broadway in New York City (click here for post on that.) All these clubs named after BB King has got me thinking that maybe I should open up a BB King/Buzzy Blues Club behind the Store.)
At Al’s show that night in New York, Love and Happiness was the final song he performed. I was hoping to find a video of the cruise ship BB King All Stars doing this tune but was unsuccessful doing so.
However, I did manage to find this long ago performance of the tune by Al that’s pretty good. (Be sure to check out Al’s foot stomp at the .30 mark followed by the dancing dude in the wife beater shirt.)
