Letterman Guest Chair – Buzzy's Counter

From Magician Steve Cohen

So Letterman is retiring.  Here is something that I had previously noticed but had never thought too much about until I read this guy’s behind the scenes look at his appearance on the David Letterman Show.  It has to do with how Letterman keeps his guests on their toes by positioning the guest chair at a weird angle to him.  With the guest chair positioned a little to the front of Dave, and at an angle to him, guests are forced to turn back and to their left to talk to him.   Depending on Dave’s interest or mood, he’ll shift his position in the chair.  However, as you’ll see in the video below,  when Dave’s guest is an attractive lady, he is right up on the edge of his chair.  See video below.

At Buzzy’s Country Store, I try not to stay behind the counter any more than I have to. Whereas Buzzy would place his stool front and center and camp out behind the counter, I don’t particularly care for it as the counter feels too much like a barrier. Like Letterman does with his lady guests, I make a point of moving forward from behind the counter to meet and greet folks whenever I can.

If I thought that it wouldn’t upset folks too much, I’d even remove the counter.  However, it would change things too much.  Plus, folks seem to kind of like bellying up to the counter and dealing, so as with all other would-be Buzzy changes I’ll leave it like it is.  However, if Charlize Theron (4:20 mark in video above) ever comes into Buzzy’s Country Store and suggests that I get rid of the counter, then, speaking of magic, POOF, consider it gone, just like Letterman.
