And speaking of advice, it reminded me of a time when Buzzy gave me some good advice. Back when I was doing marriage-on-the-rocks, kids-in-trouble sort of stuff I was in the Store one night when no one else was around. I confided my little circle of crap to Buzzy who listened very patiently. He commented on how much I was dealing with, wished me good luck and said something along the lines “I don’t know what to tell you other than you sure got your hands full.” That, I already knew.But later on just as I was leaving, he called out to me at the door “Hey,” and when I turned back he held up his hand and said. “Like they say in Hawaii – Hang Loose.”
At the time, as I was driving back up the road I thought “Gee Dad, that’s the best you could come up with – Hang Loose?” However, years later looking back and having been to Hawaii several times, I can see where that was probably the best advice that he could have given me at the time. Even now, when things get a little squirrelly, I try to heed that advice of his.
