Here is something that my sister Donna Jean asked me to pass along.
St. Michael’s School celebrates the grand opening of their “Angel Wings & Things” thrift store on Saturday, September 27th. The former Sisters of St. Joseph Convent/Bethany House at 16562 Three Notch Road in Ridge has been transformed into a non-profit store operating under the Archangel Scholarship Foundation. All proceeds will be used for SMS tuition assistance. Preview of the store begins at 10 am and refreshments will be served. Commissioner President Jack Russell, St. Michael’s High School Class of 1961, will lead the ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 am. Regular thrift store hours will be Saturdays 9 am – 4:30 pm and Sundays 9 am – noon. Donations are accepted on Saturdays from 10 am – 2 pm.
It got me thinking that since the thrift store is situated in a convent where the nuns once lived, why not call it Sisters’ Place? I’m sure that that would bring back some nice memories of Patsy and Mary Frances Raley’s business that they used to run at Pt. Lookout. Photo here is courtesy of Debi Siegel.
