| Wonder If Steny Ever Thinks “I Hope I Am Defeated So I Don’t Have to Put Up With This Twit Any More” |
Here’s another “gone” story for you: I can’t wait to toss all of the political signs in front of Buzzy’s Country Store after this Election Day. Again, this political year, as in years past, I followed the Buzzy policy of letting anyone who wanted to do so put up a sign out in front of the Store. However, I’m sorry that I did that now and am re-thinking the Buzzy policy on this.
Several reasons led to this. In addition to it being a major eyesore, the signs also screw up the lawn service folks during grass cutting season. Throw in the fact that none of the candidates ever return to take his/her signs down and it all adds up to it being a pain in the ass.
However, my biggest problem with the signs is that there are always a couple of candidates whom I don’t particularly care for and definitely don’t support who not only put their signs up out in front of my place but also leave their campaign literature to trash up the counter inside the Store. One candidate recently got a little agitated with me and even went so far as to question why I had allowed an opponent to leave his flyers on the counter. I explained the Buzzy policy of not taking sides, but the complainer was not too happy with me or the policy. The irony of all this? My preference is that this complaining candidate’s crap and sign not be at Buzzy’s in the first place and here they are giving me grief about their opponent’s stuff being here! Last straw, and that is when I decided to re-think the Buzzy-anything-goes policy.
Bottom line, I’m very glad that this election cycle is over. Good article on signs by Jesse Yeatman in a recent Enterprise article (click here.) Be sure to vote today – for someone.
