No Tip

Since I got the Keurig coffee maker hassle off my chest yesterday, I will continue in rant mode  today on another pet peeve – tipping.  It should be done away with.

Whenever someone tries to tip me in the Store I refuse it and tell them to save it and pass it along to one of my bartenders who works later in the evening.   If the would-be-tipper persists in trying to leave me a tip I’ll trot out the “I’m the owner, you don’t have to tip me” explanation.

A big reason to do away with tipping involves taxes and I’m surprised that our political bozo’s have not figured this out yet.  Right now wait staff are paid a minimum wage and are supposed to keep track of their tips and pay taxes on it accordingly.  We all know how that goes down.  Ask any waiter/waitress when you are charging your meal if they prefer one way or the other if you include the tip in the credit card or if they prefer cash and see what answer they give you.  By just doing away with tipping altogether, and paying the wait staff a set minimum wage, as is done at the fast food joints, the employer would then do the withholding of taxes thing accordinglyHence, more tax revenue (click here for related article.)

But overall, when it comes to tipping, as suggested here in this video, it should just go away.  Recognize that the following is a satirical look at tipping, but it does make a good case for doing away with it altogether (click here.)
