Steve Fadley and Mike Raley dropped by Buzzy’s Country Store the other day and we spent the afternoon reminiscing, b.s.-ing, laughing and joking. Somewhere in our conversation(s) we discussed WHFS’ disc jockey Weasel (click here. ) Turns out that Weasel is still on the air on WTMD Friday nights and Saturdays at noon (click here.) In another flashback moment, we discussed a Saturday night show that Mike and I used to watch back in the 70’s. It was broadcast from Richmond so we would have to rotate the antenna west in order to pick up Channel 8 around 11:30 pm. The show featured old, cheesy horror movies but the main attraction was the show’s MC who was a fella dressed up like Dracula and named the Bowman Body.
Mike and I would sit and laugh at his antics and yes I got to admit that the whole thing was geared to watching and appreciating it in an “altered state of consciousness” if you know what I mean. (See my previous post on legalizing pot.)
Working the old Google machine, I found Bowman and his website (click here.) He’s even got a Facebook site (click here.) Below are several videos that give you some idea of what the Bowman was all about.
P.S. One of the best things about owning and running Buzzy’s Country Store is the opportunity to do what Steve, Mike and I did that afternoon – just sit around and enjoy talking about things we’d seen and done and survived. Proves that sometimes the good old days can be relived.
