Mama Stellas

Following my post the other day about Mama Stella’s someone asked me about it.  I’m somewhat reluctant to put this out there because Mama’s is a little bit of a secret that I don’t really want “discovered.”  But since you guys are all my friends, I will pass it along to you with your promise not to publicize it too much.

I found out about Mama’s years ago when I was talking with my friend Ollie Kangas about how Waldorf did not have any nice restaurants.  I asked him for his recommendations.  (Remember this was before Hooters opened up.)  Waldorf had all of the franchises and fast food Chilli’s kind of places but just didn’t have any what I call “local” family owned and operated restaurants.  There used to be a nice little Italian place in the corner opposite the Circuit City but, just like Circuit City, it didn’t last.

Ollie agreed with me and suggested riding a few miles up the road to a place called Mama Stella’s.  Driving north it’s a little tricky finding Mama’s because Rt. 5 sort of overpasses it.  You may need that GPS thingamajig to get you there, but it’s worth the drive.   I’m not a great connoisseur of Italian food mind you, but as Mick said “I know what I like” and Mama’s is always good.

Only one song can follow this quasi-review right?  Funny, but when I first heard this, I thought Billy was talking about pills since he starts off with “Bottle of whites, bottle of red.”
