Triangle Motors – Not Your Ordinary Garage

Saw something on the ole Facebook the other day about Rob Roberts’ place on Curley Road.

Having lived on Curley Road for several years and having walked and driven past that place at least a couple thousand times, Dale’s description got me thinking about it and its history.

I believe that it has only had three owners starting with Raliegh Curley, then Milton Buchillon and currently Rob Roberts.   Raliegh lived on the river at the end of Curley Road and built the garage on the left hand side as you drive in the road in the midst of some woods.  This proved the line about a ‘shady tree mechanic’ as Raliegh repaired and maintained various vehicles there for a number of years.

(Curley Road is approximately one mile long and the garage always served as my halfway marker when ever I walked in or out the road.  If that  Chinese saying “One does not know a road until one has walked it” is true, then I know Curley Road very well.)

Following Raliegh, Mr. Bouchillon owned and operated the garage.  He worked mostly on engines using it as a machine shop.  (Mr. B and his wife Mary Anne eventually sold their property here in the County and are currently living in Mississippi.)

Today, the old garage is closed and Rob now uses the property as a graveyard for various boats, campers and cars.
