Forget D.C.’s cherry blossoms, how about all the wisteria that is now in full blossom? Across from Buzzy’s Country Store on what used to be Leola Price’s property there is a wall of wisteria that each year grows more and more. I tried to make a video of it (below) but think maybe I succeeded better at recording a conversation I had with Harry Wheatley.
Turns out however, that not everyone is so fond of wisteria as voiced in this note where the author compares it to a relative who moves in and won’t leave (“Wisteria Why I Hate You”.) An invasive vine, wisteria will take over and as it does so may choke out some other plants and trees. Guess that the best way to appreciate wisteria is as I do – to view and admire it growing on someone else’s property.
