Up in the Air

Anna Kendrick (previous post) played George Clooney’s young assistant in the movie Up in the Air and earned an Oscar nomination as best supporting actress.  (Clooney was nominated for Best Actor and Vera Farmiga was also nominated for Best Supporting Actress.  None of them actually won that year but from a Ridge-boy movie critic’s POV, they should have.) 

Clooney and Kendrick’s job was to fly around the country to inform folks that they were being laid off.  Clooney did it the old fashioned face-to-face way, while the young Anna utilized a computer screen interview with the folks being terminated as seen here in this video:
 
The “actors” being laid off, such as Mr. Samuels shown here, were “real” people who had actually been thru such a firing procedure.
