Flashback Friday (You Can’t Always Remember What You Want)

In the song Memo From Turner, Mick talks about a businessman who is beginning to sense that he may be losing it.

“Come now, gentleman
I know there’s been some mistake
How forgetful I’m becoming
Now you fixed your business straight”

I tell you this because that line “how forgetful I’m becoming” seems to resonate more and more with me as I catch myself not recalling things here and there.  And while I haven’t left any babies in the back seat of the car yet, there have been instances where some things have sorta slipped out of the old memory motel.

For example, just the other day  I asked someone in the Store how a relative was doing and he pointed out to me that we had just talked about it the day before.  As I reflected on it, I may have remembered discussing it the day before, but there was a part of me that was not so sure.  (Also, from the above mentioned Turner song a line states “There’s a part of you that’s not screwed on.”  However, I don’t think Mick was talking about memory capabilities.)

There are all kinds of internet surveys on this issue (click here) but nothing too helpful nor insightful.  In fact, on the linked survey, I would have gone 10 for 10 back in my drinking days so I’m not sure what that may or may not mean.

Still, it is a little scary and I’m making some doctor’s appointments to have it all checked it out, if I remember to do so.  But hey, it’s only rock n roll right?  Wonder if Mick ever has these problems.
