In case you haven’t been paying attention to it, the 2015 Tour de France concludes today. I know, so what, who cares? In the realm of sports competitions the Tour ranks somewhere down there with the hot dog eating contest and the NBA All Star Slam Dunk event.
However, I got to admit that while it’s not in my “must-see-T-V” DVR rotation, I do tune in to the race every so often for two reasons. One, forget about the race itself, I just like looking at all those aerial shots of the French scenery with their castles and towns and countryside. Whenever I view it, I find myself wanting to go to France and rent a car just to drive around the countryside there. Here is a sample of what I am referring to with apologies for the music, just hit the mute icon to silence it:
The second reason I like to catch some of the race is to check out the crazy fans who line the roadways and then watch how the bike riders try to wend their way thru the crowds. As I watch it I still can’t believe that it’s ok for the crowds to be that close to the riders. Check out these dudes with beers in hand:

A related story (click here) has video of some bare ass dude jumping out in front of the racers and running ahead of them. This has been going on for years but it does seem like the last couple years it’s gotten out of hand (click here.)
No particular ending, summation nor semi-smart ass comment for you here so I’ll just fade away sort of like how this Chilli Peppers’ Bicycle video ends – with a thud.<br />
