Bad news, for me at least, is that the song that they came up for me is one I can’t stand:
I even played around with the dates trying to see what was No. 1 either before or after my actual birth date but Patti’s Tennessee Waltz was number uno the whole month of February (click here.)
And then as if Patti wasn’t sorry enough to have inflicted that dreck on us, she topped herself with How Much is That Doggie in the Window, just maybe the worst song of all time. The only redeeming thing about Doggie that I can think of is a Mick Jagger quote I read somewhere to the effect “If I could write a song as sappy and as terrible as that, then I’d be the happiest man in the world.” With Mick’s endorsement then, I’ll show you the video for Doggie in the Window, which video-wise is not too bad for a 1951 production. If you absolutely feel like you want to hear The Tennessee Watz however, you are on your own.
