Very Murray Christmas

Caught Bill Murray’s Very Murray Christmas Special the other night and it was so bad that it was actually good.  It was a spoof of all those Christmas specials you see on T-V this time of year.  Murray and his several guests did a number of Christmas tunes as they sat around a bar room in a snow storm.  (How’s that for an idea of what to do during the next snow storm at Buzzy’s?)

Like I said, the Murray special was a little slack in that the singing wasn’t the greatest but it kept your attention or at least kept mine.  (Remember though, I am easily amused and Bill Murray’s one of my guys who can do no wrong even in this mess of a show.)

He did the following song that caught my attention and after tracking it down, I learned that it was written by Sammy Cahn.  Coincidentally, this marked my second recent encounter with a song written by Sammy.  A few weeks back I attributed Time Ater Time as being written by Cyndi Lauper, and my friend Steve Petersen sent me an email informing me that it was actually written by Cahn in 1947.  My bad, but at least I now know who Sammy Cahn is/was.  (He also wrote Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! which Miley Cyrus did on the Murray special (below.))  Miley was actually pretty good.  Now that I think about it, that is the first time I’ve ever had that opinion of her after having seen her perform.  Then again, my opinion of her on this show may have been skewed by that skimpy Santa suit she was wearing!
