I recall catching Steve Harvey on some late night comedy show a very long time ago and immediately liking him. Later, I enjoyed him in the Kings of Comedy and that sealed the deal for me – Steve was the real thing. Here is an excerpt from the Kings:
All that said however, I simply can not stand him as the clown host of the Family Feud. (To all you Facebookers who continue to post clips of him mugging and acting goofy on the Feud whenever someone says something stupid, which is quite frequently, please stop it!)
But obviously I am in the minority on this because the show is hugely successful and folks tend to credit Steve for that success.

It’s nothing racial either on my part because I couldn’t stand that smarmy Richard Dawson clown who hosted the show before Steve.
In fact, now that I think about it, I just don’t particularly care for the Family Feud show at all no matter who hosts it. (I usually switch over to the Feud when Jeopardy and Trebek are doing
their little waste-of-time interviews with the contestants. However, 3 or 4 minutes of Steve and the FF folks is all I can stand before gladly switching back to Alex and company and finding out who the last czar of Russia was. (Answer – Nicholas II.) Maybe I really am becoming a GOM (Grumpy Old Man) after all.
