Tuesday I was visiting my Mom when I received a call from Erin Henson the Director of Public Affairs for the Maryland Department of Transportation. Erin informed me that she was conducting a site survey to host a visit from Governor Hogan and was considering Buzzy’s Country Store. I thought she was prank calling me until she informed that she was currently at the Store in the parking lot. I told her that I would be there in five minutes to meet her.
Turns out that Erin was telling me the truth in that Governor Hogan will be conducting a tour of Southern Maryland this coming weekend. As part of his trip he will visit Buzzy’s Saturday afternoon (2:30) and announce the latest on the road widening of Rt. 5 to Pt. Lookout State Park.

Pretty cool eh? This will mark the first time that the Governor of Maryland has ever visited Buzzy’s. If you are out and about this Saturday, drop by to see how it goes down. I’m kind of curious myself.
P.S. When I re-visited Mom to tell her why I left her so abruptly, she laughed and said “Well, that’s something. The Governor coming to the Store. Buzzy would be so happy.”
As far as I know, there is only one song that mentions the Governor (2:00 mark) but it’s a good one. (Note – this is a little different version of Sweet Home than you are used to hearing but it’s still got the “Turn it up” line at the start. Don’t know why, but that just may be my favorite part of this song.)
