And that would be Young Americans. Someone asked me why I had not done anything on Bowie when he died last month. Fact is Bowie was never in the mix for me because I always thought he was more sizzle than steak. I thought his music was so so and all that reinventing himself was just a gimmick. To me he was always relegated to that “ok but not purchasing any of his stuff” category.
However, as stated, if I had to pick one of his tunes that I sort of liked, it would be this word drunk look at how screwed we all are here in the US of A. As a rule I don’t like it when songwriters from other countries take shots at us, but this tune I don’t mind so much. That and the saxophone combine to make it a great song.
