One more note about my appearance before the Alcohol Beverage Board on Thursday. When I visited Tammy Hildebrand the Board Administrator and her coworker Suzie Whilden in March to discuss appearing before the Board, they informed me that I would not be on the March 10 agenda but would have to wait until the April 14 meeting.
At first I was disappointed and a little pissed that I’d have to wait another several weeks to get this taken care of. However, having worked in the Navy’s bureaucracy for many years, I was well aware that administrative wheels grind slowly and that patience is a must when you are dealing with “the system.” Turns out I am glad that I was delayed to the April meeting.
Here is an excerpt from the April 14th Alcohol Beverage Board Agenda:When I saw the agenda for this past Thursday’s meeting, I smiled seeing that Buzzy’s request for an extension of premise was listed along with one from George Quade’s Store and Brian Tarleton’s Green Door. I thought – good omen. Having Quade’s, the Green Door and Buzzy’s on the same agenda was semi-historic because we 3 have to be among the oldest licensees in the County. We certainly are among the most iconic. If I had to go before the Board then, I was honored to have done so in such good company.
Throughout the summer months, Quades will be having 5 or 6 events where they will feature food and music for all to enjoy. So keep an eye out for those events.
Brian is hosting the Green Door’s 8th Annual fundraiser for the American Cancer Society on 23 and 24 April. (Informally we know it as the Save the Ta Ta’s Party.) Good cause, so put it on your calendar.
As for Buzzy’s, I’ll check in with the Mr. Kareoke Polock and see what we can arrange for our first legal front porch party. Heck, I may even invite the Governor.
