Veep Season 5

Veep (click here) begins Season #5 tomorrow night on HBO.  It stars Maryland girl Julia Louis-Dreyfuss and has won several Emmy’s and awards.  Someone stated that while everyone thinks that D.C.’s political scene is like House of Cards a more realistic portrayal of how things do or do not function in D.C. is Veep.

The other day I heard some professor on the radio discussing what happens if  in a Presidential election race no candidate gets the required 270 electoral votes.  The professor then explained some convoluted process whereby Congress decides the matter.  I’d try to explain it here but Veep has saved me the trouble because that is how their Season 4 ended and where Season 5 begins (click here.)

Fortunately for us, the likelihood of this happening in a two person Presidential race is very remote.  However, as the professor on the radio noted, a popular third party candidate increases the odds of it happening considerably.  Keep your fingers crossed that an already crazy election cycle doesn’t get any crazier.   Reminds me of the saying though  “Just when you thought that it couldn’t get any worse, it usually does.”

For those of you unfamiliar with Veep here is a quick survey of how it rolls:
