It sure seems like 2018 has brought us a lot of ugly traffic accidents here in the County doesn’t it? I don’t know if any official statistics bear this out, but every day there is a story, or two or three about a bad car crash.
Rt. 235 seems to have become Car Wreck Way. Bad things happen when folks are speeding, texting and just not paying attention. I’ve done my little survey in Buzzy’s Country Store asking folks which they would prefer to meet in the oncoming lane – a driver drunk, someone stoned on pot or someone texting? The stoner is the most cited answer because as folks usually note “He’s probably only doing 20 MPH!” The texter is the one nobody wants to encounter because those drivers are not even looking where they are going.
Music critics and commentators talk about what a dirty and voyeuristic song this DM tune is. Sorry, but I don’t see/hear all that. Sounds to me like Dave’s got it just about right. I think he even spoofs his critics when he sings at the song’s end (4:20) “I’m the king of the castle, you’re the dirty rascal.”
The “Hike up your skirt a little more and show your world to me” (3:05 mark) is up there as one of my all time favorite rock lyrics.
