Fender Guitars

Seeing Jonny Lang (previous post) in that guitar shop and then him playing that Fender Telecaster led me to noodling around on Fender Guitars’ origins and different models.  First its origins:

I was sorta familiar with Fender’s two most famous models the Stratocaster and the Telecaster which Jonny played in the video.

However, I wasn’t aware that Fender had also produced a hollow-body model known as the Coronado.

Fender Coronado

Unlike the Strats and Teles, which were solid bodies, the Coronado was a semi-hollow model.  This was  Fender’s attempt to keep pace with other hollow body guitars being produced by Rickenbacher and Gretch.

The Coronado was a short lived product that Fender eventually stopped making.  However, I found this article on 9 cool video moments in the Coronado’s history.  One of those is the following scene of Elvis and Nancy Sinatra in the movie Speedway.  The description notes that Elvis plays Nancy and the guitar simultaneously.  Don’t see any of the Rock Guitar Gods doing anything like that do you?
