Where did the acronym TGIF originate? Who came up with it? Such deep thoughts and questions really do prove that I need a life eh?
Couple sources credit some DJ in Ohio with first saying TGIF as his catchphrase back in 1970 (click here also.) Not wishing to devote too much of my time to researching this, I will take their word for it.
However, I did learn that the restaurant TGI Fridays started back in 1965. It was initially a singles bar founded by a gent named Allan Stillman. He used to be a perfume salesman before starting the bar/restaurant. To watch a video featuring him discussing how he started TGI Fridays (click here.)
