George Mendosa died last week. Odds are you don’t recognize him by his name but you have seen him a time or two because he was the Kissing Sailor. Here is the cover of a book about it published in 2012. Because there was some controversy and mystery about just who the two were, the authors undertook an investigation and then wrote this book.

However, in a sad twist of fate about the times we live in, a statue in Sarasota of the famous photo was vandalized the other night because the kiss was deemed unwanted (click here🙂
