Twofer Tuesday – Susie Q

Mentioning that 12 x 5 album by the Stones sent me back to re-listen to it.  I had forgotten that the album closes out with their take on Susie Q (click here to listen to it.  Great video and be sure to read the SHOW MORE comments below it.)

Susie Q was written and recorded in 1957 by Louisiana rockabilly artist Dale Hawkins.  In 1968 Creedence Clearwater released it as their first single.  It would be their only Top 40 hit that was not written by John Fogerty.

Since I am sure you are familiar with Creedence’s 8 minute version of it, let’s take a look at and listen to Dale’s 2 minute take when he appeared on Dick Clarke’s American Bandstand.  Sometimes shorter is better – bad lip sync and all.
