He's Back! Happy New Year!

For the most part, my wife Pam and I are sympatico when it comes to humor save for one individual -Larry David.  Pam just can’t stand him.  And while I agree with her that Larry is not exactly the most likable guy on T-V, for my money he and his Curb Your Enthusiasm show are the funniest things on T-V.

Pam however, doesn’t buy my explanations and maintains that there is something wrong with me for watching and enjoying the show.  I got to admit that the longer I watch the show (20 years now) a part of me does kinda worry about the fact that I find myself agreeing more and more and laughing with Larry as opposed to laughing at him.  The older I get it seems the more I am adopting his views of the world at large.  Little scary.  I guess that is what scares Pam too!

His opening episode of this season was a classic.  For a good review of it (click here.

This following clip from that show will give you an idea of topics covered.  In the episode Larry deals with topics that hit home with me such as always ending up with the wobbly table in a diner or cafe.

And there is another topic in the show that I have been thinking about recently – how long do you say Happy New Year?  In this episode it was a running joke as seen here at the end of the clip.

The Trump hat was another running joke in the show as Larry used it to his advantage to avoid dealing with various people and situations.  The show also featured some very funny sex scenes with Larry and his ex-wife played by Cheryl Hines (right.)

Too, I have always enjoyed Richard Lewis and the way he interacts with Larry in the show.  Great first show and I am looking forward to catching the rest of the season even if I have to watch it sine Pam.

If you haven’t checked Curb out yet and want to do so I have one warning for you: do not try to binge watch it. After two or three back to back episodes you’ll find yourself agreeing with Pam that Larry’s too much a pain to endure and you won’t want to watch any additional shows.  Like medicine for the soul, Larry is best taken in small doses.
