Enterprise Ad From 1963

Found the following full page ad in a 1963 Enterprise.

It features mostly South County business ads from members of the Ridge Lions Club advertising their upcoming Bull Roast.  Brought back a lot of memories of various businesses that have come and gone.  (Couple on here are still around however!)  Buzzy advertising as C.H. Ridgell Store hawking school supplies and uniforms tells you that this was in his pre-booze business mode.

Another ad just above Buzzy’s that made me smile and brought back some nice memories was not from a business but from an individual – Sam the Bread Man.

Back in the day Buzzy’s had bread delivered by two companies – Wonder and Bond Bread.  The Bond Bread delivery guy was always a friendly, laughing and joking gentleman named Sam.  I can remember my brother Stevie and I stopping what we were doing just to say hello to him because he was always so nice to everyone.  As best I remember, Sam lived up county but obviously he didn’t mind paying up and sponsoring an ad for the Ridge Lions’ Bull Roast.

Speaking of fond memories and good times, check out this video and see if it doesn’t sound a little too familiar:
