My music buddy John Hamill (see previous post) was in Buzzy’s County Store yesterday and gave me a nice compliment for featuring one of his favorite groups Tuba Skinny here on the Buzzyblog recently. John noted that he has been a big fan of theirs for some time now starting back when they first began by playing the streets of New Orleans.
Thus, I went looking for another TS video to show here and found this one of a recent performance where once again they are playing on the streets. In addition to it being musically great (see a viewer’s comments below) it is a fun video to watch the reactions of various folks’ and passersby. Most folks just stroll on apparently oblivious to the music; but check out the young lady behind the tuba player. She was into it.
Had I been there, I would be like the old guy standing in back between the clarinet player and the group’s leader Shaye. I’d be in a ball cap, too fat and too old to bop along but nonetheless enjoying the show. I’ve always said that people watching is a show for free. Having music accompanying the watching makes it even more better. (Sorry Sister Gregory, but “more better” is now an acceptable English idiom.)
