Capt. Bill Merritt

Good article here on the Struggler himself Bill Merritt, his wife Ann and daughter Tapestry.

I first met Bill when he recruited me to play ball for the Strugglers the softball team he managed.  He was also responsible for coming up with the team’s name.  It had something to do with his stock response to anyone who asked him how he was doing and he would answer “Strugglin’.”   It made sense then to name the ball team that too.   Bill was also one of the leaders in getting the Young Men’s Slowpitch League organized and off the ground back in 73.  The Strugglers won the first Slow Pitch Championship that year and Bill was the main guy for making all that happen.
