OK, so you can’t see us, but trust me we were there last year for the Nationals’ opener.  I took these photos to commemorate the occasion:


And why do I post this today?  Because today was supposed to be opening day and once again John and I were heading up to Nationals Park to watch the Nationals’ play their first home game of the season.  As an added bonus, they were going to be recognized as the reigning world champs.  

But since we are living in some very strange, Twilight Zone times, the talk is not about baseball and fun, but instead about death counts, makeshift morgues and shortages of everything.  Very depressing isn’t it? 

But just the mere mention and thought of baseball makes me feel a little bit better.  I direct you to the dean of baseball writers Tom Boswell for his excellent take on where we find ourselves in all this (click here.)  Here is an excerpt from his article:

For obvious reasons, this song has been on my mind a lot lately.  Supposedly George wrote it about the ending of the Beatles as a group.  However, seems to me that it speaks to things much larger than that.
