Home Again

Caught the Carole King 1973 Central Park “Home Again” Concert on MPT the other night and while I enjoyed it, I didn’t really think about it too much until just now. Here is why.

Today of course is Juneteenth and since you will be hearing about it all day long from sources much more knowledgeable about it than I am, I wanted to avoid talking about it. (I still think it’s a little hokey that Texas gets recognized for Juneteenth when they were the last ones to outlaw slavery. Talk about rewarding bad behavior.)

Thus, I went looking for other noteworthy things that also went down on 19 June and found the following item listed on This Day in Music:

Initially, I thought that to be a nice coincidence since I had just watched her concert a few nights ago and then stumbled on this little historical note about her. However, the coincidence took a bit of a dark turn when I also noted the following blurb about something else listed on This Day in Music:

Dude died on June 19th, same date that his ex hit number 1 on the charts. Even if those two events were 43 years apart, it’s still a little spooky isn’t it?

Here is the movie trailer from Carole’s Central Park concert. Amazon Prime has it if you want to watch all of it.

P.S. Little known fact (at least to me it was), Carol wrote the music but not the lyrics to It’s Too Late. Toni Stern wrote the lyrics following her breakup with some guy named James Taylor. Made me wonder which one of them had changed.
