Back in the day whenever a third baseman made a great play, announcers and sportswriters would refer to it as “Brooksian.” I recall in particular former Orioles’ play by play announcer Jon Miller using this reference to the greatest fielding third baseman to have ever played the game Brooks Robinson. Another adjective that always caught my eye involved music reviewers describing a new group and their music as “Beatlesesque.” I would always make a note to try and check them out.
