NFL Tonight

In addition to the Ridge Volunteer Fire Department Social commencing tonight, King Football returns with the NFL season kicking off – literally!

Accordingly, let’s do some gambling lazy man style. (Note – my bookie can’t wait to take my money lazy or otherwise.)

By lazy man style I mean let’s keep it simple. For this, the first week of NFL action, I am taking 10 games at random and betting the over/under on the total points scored for each of those games. No trying to figure out the point spread nor trying to pick outright winners, the nice thing about betting the over/under is that one doesn’t care which team wins. It’s the total number of points both teams rack up that you are betting on.

For this week then, I will stick with betting the Over because as someone once said “It is always easier and more enjoyable to be rooting for points to be scored versus rooting against points to be scored.” (Note that there is a life lesson to be learned here in that it is usually better to be rooting for something than rooting against something. I wish that some of our politicos would learn and put this approach into practice. (That you know exactly what politicos I am talking about i.e. those who are always against something says it all.))

But back to me losing money betting on the NFL. As stated, I have selected 10 NFL games at random and instructed my bookie to place bets on each of these 10 games to go Over the projected total points. My bookie has already made an appointment for a massage based on her anticipated winnings.

One of those 10 games bet is tonight’s Chiefs-Lions contest with a projected total of 53.5 points. (Re: picking a winner tonight, the Chiefs’ Coach Andy Reid is 9-1 in opening games as their head coach. Jes saying.)

And speaking of the King, how’s about some love for the King of Beers! Even if he has been knocked around a bit here lately, he is still the King and still the best! Let’s hear it for the King!
