Ridge Volunteer Fire Department will hold their Annual Community Social starting tomorrow evening. Not quite the Ridge Carnival of old that we all grew up with, but it sure is good to see the tradition continue. Some nice getting-ready photos here from Mike Ridgell:
As for having some live music at the Social, I received the following from my friend Ted Yeatman who is a member of the Bushmill Band.
Robbie Robertson died last month on 9 August at the age of 80 making Garth Hudson the last surviving original member of The Band. Some great lines here in this Carnival song including “We’re all in the same boat, ready to float off the edge of the world.”
The ultimate behind-the-scenes-guy, Garth didn’t get much face time on stage as did the other 4 members who were featured so much more. (For example Garth is hardly shown at all in the above video. You can glimpse his head at the beginning but that’s about it.) However, to get a look at him performing click here and go to the 1:39 mark of this Ed Sullivan video.
