As for why the dates September 9 thru the 20 are so common, it has to do with conception taking place during the Christmas season of romance, partying and you-know-what. (All those chestnuts roasting on an open fire!)
In an interesting twist of fate however, the least common birthday (aside from Leap Year’s 29 February date,) is December 25th. This from the article:
