Every Picture Tells a Story or Two – Don’t It?

As I was doing some research on old country stores and their front porches, I landed on this interesting (at least to me it was) photo of a young man sitting on the porch of a store in Roseland, Virginia relaxing and smoking. (Note: Roseland is located off of Rt.29 just a little south of Charlottesville.)

While my primary interest was in the store’s signage and architecture, it wasn’t until I read the attached comments, that the simple photo took on a whole new set of meaning(s.) Here are some of those comments that made me pause and say “Never thought of that.”

As for what became of the store, I did a little more googling around but couldn’t find anything conclusive other than this comment.

However, I did learn that the Devils Backbone Brewery is located in Roseland and was purchased by the Anheuser-Busch folks in 2016. May just have to get some of that product in Buzzy’s Country Store.

Here is one of Bruce’s outtake songs from his 4 CD box set that Reagan gave me awhile ago. Great song and can’t believe that I had never heard it until recently. (Video is excellent too!)
