Buzzy Book Club

As I prepared for this trip to Ireland, I hit the Buzzy Book Club to grab a couple paperbacks to read on the flights to and from the Emerald Island. As I did so, two thoughts crossed my mind. 1) If the flight is a bad one I could then claim “all the way the paperback was on my knee.” 2) I got to get rid of the Buzzy Book Club.

Marcia Raley initiated the Buzzy Book Club several years ago when she had her husband Dave, aka Clutch, deliver me a couple boxes and bags of books that she no longer wanted. Her instructions to me were “Do what you want with them. Sell them, give them away I don’t care.”

I cleared a shelf on one of the stands in the back of the Store and stashed the books there noting accordingly that folks were free to take or trade a book as they wished to do so. Needless to say, the books haven’t exactly been flying off the shelf. Instead they have sat quietly on the shelf, gathering dust and keeping their stories to themselves. (I’m tempted to try and contrast that with the actions of my humans in Buzzy’s, but I’ll save that discussion for another day.)

Thru the years I have had some folks who actually did trade or take one of the books and even try to buy one or two occassionaly. However, it’s been a longtime since the BBC has seen any action and its Kervorkian time.

Thus, upon my return I am planning a “Goodbye to the BBC” party as the books will become part of the Buzzy Dustbin of history. If you are so inclined to do so, please come grab as many books from the BBC as you want.

Since I quoted it, here is the “paperback-on-my-knee” source tune:
