Flag Day Blues

Of the 7,832 Buzzyblog posts to date, the one on 12 June 2009 was the shortest, saddest and most painful that I have ever published.

My Dad had died the night before and I was literally at a loss for words. Eventually I would get around to writing about and discussing it, but that morning after I was left a little numb.

However, my first order of business was to cancel a Buzzy event that we had scheduled for Sunday. Given that Sunday was Flag Day and we needed to put up a new Buzzy flagpole anyway, it sounded like a good idea to have the following event along with a car show.

All that was then and even though 15 some years have come and gone, Flag Day still remains a bit of a bummer for me. Karen may have had her Rainy Days and Mondays, but I got Flag Day to always bring me down.

Would Have Hit 100 This Year

How about something from the Duke and Coltrane to make things even more mellow today:

P.S. Not to get too political on you here, but my Flag Day sentiments are definitely not enhanced any with all this crapola about our flags being flown upside down. How and why did that ever get to be such a thing? Never mind, I think I know the answer.
