Orange and Black

Twofer Tuesday and it really is nut-cutting time, as the Orioles begin a big three game series with the Giants tonight – weather permitting.

Naturally, my thoughts turn to asking why are both their team colors orange and black? (OK, that’s not so “natural,” but it did get me wondering how and why the Giants stole the Orioles’ colors in the first place?)

I found this answer:

Through the years the Orioles have been fairly consistent with their orange and black after the Maryland state bird with those colors (click here.) However, the Giants’ colors and logos have changed up some through the years:

Note how when the Giants left New York and moved to San Francisco in 1947 they went back to the orange and black. The following explanation talks to why they went back to orange and black as their color scheme:

I checked the various sports betting sites to see if you could place a bet based on team colors. I was looking for the block to bet that tonight’s Orioles/Giants’ game would be won by the team in orange and black; but couldn’t find it for some reason or other.

Important game to start the O’s last homestand of the season, so why not ring up Number 1 Orioles’ fan Joan and get her out there to kick start our guys?!
