During this past trip overseas, I kept my phone on Airplane Mode because the Buzzy in me didn’t want to pay the $10 a-day-fee just to receive texts and calls that I mostly didn’t want to read nor hear to begin with.
However, after landing at Dulles yesterday afternoon and returning to cellular coverage, I was pleasantly surprised to find a number of nice texts and photos from folks who took various photos at Buzzy’s following the Legion’s Car Show. For example here is Connie’s FB post:

As someone commented, “Buzzy’s boys” included Louise Mann winning a trophy for her VW shown here in this photo taken by Lisa Mercure.

The King and some guy named Greg.*

Think about the variety of the four vehicles shown here. Pretty cool.
*Greg was my initial reason for starting the Buzzy Car Show back in 09. At that time, his King Demon was out of commission, so I gave him a date to shoot for getting it on the road and bringing it down to Buzzy’s for a car show. I thought it would be fun to have all the Buzzy classic car owners bring their vehicles down to the Store and show them off.
Well, Greg sorta met that deadline in that he got the King all spruced up and ready for prime time, but still had to have Pat Gerek bring it into Buzzy’s on a low boy. I remember Brother Dickie Cullison making some comment “Ain’t that something, the baddest car to have come outta Ridge and it’s being towed in on a trailer.” (Note, I’ve still got the video of that somewhere and will dig out if I can find it.) But mentioning Dickie, I still think that it was very nice that the Legion sponsored this year’s event in his memory.

As for car show designated winners, it reminded me of that first Buzzy car show that we did in 09 when someone called and asked me what the prizes were and I told him that there weren’t any. He then informed me “Weil, you’re not having a car show, you’re having a car rally.” My reply to him was “Well since you know so much about car shows, maybe you shouldn’t come to this one at Buzzy’s.” Never heard from him again.
As for who is or isn’t a winner, I go along with this Hot Chocolate song featuring lead singer Errol Brown
