Buzby’s General Store

All this talk of the New Jersey wildfires made me think of a recent visitor to Buzzy’s Country Store who told me about a general store located in his hometown of Chatsworth, New Jersey. (Chatsworth is located in Jersey’s Burlington County west of where the wildfires are occurring in Ocean County. Chatsworth is in the heart of the Pinelands which is a large forested and wetlands National Reserve consisting of over 1 million acres.)

Buzby’s General Store has been around since 1865 when Neil and Ben Wade first opened it. They eventually sold it to Mr. Willis J. Buzby in 1892 (click here.) For a good article on the history of the Store along with some nice photos such as these (click here.)

Today it is primarily a restaurant named Buxby’s Eatery and General Store.

I like the Intro on their FB page (note the bees buzzing around:)

In looking for videos on Buzby’s, I found this real estate one from 2014 when the Store was for sale. (Note that the first half of the video shows an apartment above the store; the store itself is featured starting at the 1:20 mark.)

Here is the sales pitch/write up accompanying that video:

Don’t do much classical music here on the Buzzyblog, but this one seems appropriate for today. Close your eyes while you listen and see if you don’t feel like you’re in the middle of a swarming bunch of bees.

Interesting story as to how this tune came to “be” (click here.)
