Hands down, July IS the best month. And I am not just saying this because July also happens to be Buzzy’s Country Store’s best month income-wise. Remember my motto – if I was here for the money, I wouldn’t be here!
But in addition to July being a great month for seasonal businesses, it is also the best month because it hits all the right notes on everything else from weather to picnics to sports to our in-a-gadda-da-vida celebration on the 4th. Think about it – on what other day of the year can you consume large quantities of food and drink all day long and then relax and enjoy setting off illegal fireworks late into the night?!!
And unlike the other big holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas where you have to interact with your family, the 4th does not impose those kind of demands on you. Instead, the 4th allows you the freedom (big word on the 4th) to party like a redneck at an open bar event and do whatever the hell you please with whomever you choose. It just doesn’t get any better than the 4th!
But speaking of family members and partying, it also reminds me of my Brother Stevie who was born today in 1952. I always think of and equate him with July because of the party connections(s.) Someone (I think Francis Wood) once described Steve by saying “He wasn’t just the life of the party, he WAS the party.”
