To quote Alice, “I’m 18 and I like it.” And while I never thought that I would be celebrating anything 18 again, life is indeed full of many surprises and you-never-knows.
On this date in 2007, my Dad and I visited the law offices of Dugan and Mckissick to have Bill McKissick execute the settlement of my buying Buzzy’s Country Store. Here is the signed document that effected that transfer:

In case you are wondering about all that legal mumbo jumbo in the first paragraph above, Bill had initially established a “J. Scott Ridgell LLC” with Buzzy listed as the sole owner. Bill then had us do an Asset Purchase Agreement which executed the sale of that LLC to me. I know that it sounds more complicated than it should have been, but that is just the way it all played out.
Following that exchange, Buzzy and I then met my Mom at IHOP for a post-settlement breakfast where he picked up the tab. As he did so, he commented “I got a chunk of change; you got the Store and some pancakes. I think I made out on this deal.”
The following was from a blogpost I did on the occasion of my 10th anniversary back in 2017:

As noted above “I’m 18 and I like it.” (Other lyrics in that tune may also resonate, particularly “I have an old man’s heart” and “I don’t always know what I’m talking about.”) Here it is from a fella originally named Vince Furnier. That’s Glen Buxton and Michael Bruce taking turns on lead guitar.
Wish me Happy Anniversary today in Buzzy’s Country Store and you too may get a chance to like celebrating 18 again.
