Sunday so let’s do something religious and spiritual with a rock and roll twist.
On this day in Rock History John Lennon’s album Walls and Bridges was Billboard’s Number 1 album.

There is an interesting back story as to how John was inspired to write the hit song Whatever Gets You Thru the Night:

For old farts like me, you may remember Reverend Ike who preached what is known as prosperity theology. To catch a sample of his T-V show, check this out:
Also, I found this very good 10 minute interview here where he sat down with Larry King and discussed his “ministry:”
Be sure to catch Ike at the 6:25 mark where he talks about the white T-V evangelicals including then controversies surrounding Oral Roberts and Jim Baker. Larry discussing Ike’s 10 Commandments of Money and Ike’s explanation is worth a listen to also (8:35).
I could not find the Joy Bells song that Rev Ike’s guest discussed in the above video (5:10) but did find manage to find this version of it:
At Buzzy’s Country Store, it reminds me of his Sudsy Sundays where he featured $1.00 beers and “No Sermons No Songs:”
