Here is a bit of an unusual Twofer Tuesday item for you.
Ron French, whom I had never met previously, visited Buzzy’s Country Store last week and in the course of our conversation, told me about his visiting a country store named Bill’s Place in Little Orleans, Maryland many years ago. He told me that after he had asked the owner of the store for 10 ounce Budweiser, the old guy said something along the lines that he had been in business for a long time and had never heard of 10 ounce Buds. Ron continued to tell me how he then informed the proprietor that there was such a commodity as 10 ounce Bud. As the old boy continued to dismiss Ron and his request, Ron instructed him to hang on while he proceeded out to his truck to retrieve a 10 Ouncer and brought it back to show the old guy.
After Ron had told me this story, I asked him if he knew Mike Adams. When he said no, I informed him that Mike had told me the exact same story almost verbatim many years ago. Mike’s only variation/addition that Ron did not mention was that the owner was “a crusty old guy something like your Dad Buzzy.”
They both commented on how surprised and taken aback the store owners werewhen presented with proof that 10 Ounce Buds were indeed areal deal.
Following my conversation with Ron I did a little research to learn more about Bill’s Place in Little Orleans and found this from Wiki:

The annual bike rally in Little Orleans has even been dubbed “the Sturgis of the East Coast.”
Here is Bills’ FB page containing this photo (click here.)

I also found this video of Bill at 86 “old enough to die” (7:18). He passed in 2013.

Good site here with several interior and exterior photos of Bill’s Place (click here.)
Not too sure about where this particular Bill’s Place is located, but the song is sorta catchy in a Deadheadish kinda of way.
P.S. I followed up with a phone call to Mike the other day to verify that I was correct in him telling about 10 Ounce experience and he confirmed it. However, he said that his exchange occurred in a store located near Bedford, Pa. with an owner a lot like Buzzy. I am going to try and track that store down too and see if it is still around – even if they don’t offer 10 ounce Buds..
