Opening Day

MLB had its season opening game last night with the Yankees beating the Giants. Today 11 other games will be played with the remaining 3 games set for tomorrow.

Thomas Boswell wrote the book:

The Orioles are looking for a bounce back season after last year’s debacle. However, because they are playing in what many consider to be the best Division in baseball, the O’s have their work cut for them and need to do more than just bounce back a little to even think about playing in October. The betting boys have them coming in 4th in the Division:

Projected wins:

Yankees – 90.5

Blue Jays – 88.5

Red Sox – 87.5

Orioles – 85.5

The Yankees predicted total win number is second best overall behind the Dodgers who are favored to win 102.5 games.

As for the Nationals, it is looking like another long season ahead for them. Their projected total wins comes in @ second worst to the Rockies:

But it is opening day for both the O’s and the Nats and as they say, hope springs eternal. Let the games begin.

Heard this Rob Thomas tune the other day after listening to the news and feeling somewhat depressed. In weird kind of way, it made me feel a little better even though lyrics-wise Rob is not all that positive about things. “Where do you turn when the world moves on?” My answer is “Listen to some music and watch some baseball!”

Will definitely have the O’s game on later today at the Buzzy Sports Bar starting at 3:00. Nats play at 1:20 but I don’t know where or if they are being televised. Looks like NBC is televising the Pirates/Mets game starting 1:00. Baseball at Buzzy’s on opening day, how’s that for a Thursday Thursday combo!
