Marathon Mailboxes

Heading down the main drag leading to Sombrero Beach in Marathon, I noticed many decorated mailboxes. When I commented on it to Shea he said that it was what he called “competitive mailbox decorating.” He proceeded to drive me around some of the neighborhoods where I grabbed these photos:

The manatee mailbox was probably the most popular one.

However, even those plain gray fellas could get gussied up a bit:

I Won’t Say Who I Think He Looks Like But Take a Guess!

But if I had to single out one in particular, there was something about this “uplifting” one that caught my eye:

Hate to call Bobby Mcferrin a one hit wonder. However, after his “Don’t Worry Be Happy” was such a huge hit in 1988, he hasn’t had anything close to the success that that one earned him. (“Don’t Worry” won Grammy Awards as Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.) Check out this 1995 one of his that never gained the notoriety of his best known tune. (Note – Bobby was just in the news, make that fake news, as reports of his death turned out to be a hoax (click here for that story.) Maybe he should do an a cappella version of Stayin’ Alive!)
