I talked to my daughter Ryan in Hawaii the other day to see if the Eddie (click here for more info) was on. She informed that the hold period had commenced on 1 December and that they are now waiting to see if the 20+ foot waves roll in to allow the competition to take place. However, she informed me that another big surfing event, the Pipeline Masters, was scheduled to begin today. (This year’s event is in memory of Andy Irons whom I’ve mentioned previously click here.) In case you didn’t catch this video though, here’s surfer Garrett McNamara on a 90 foot wave. However, I didn’t see Garrett’s name on the list of surfers competing in the Pipeline Masters. Wonder if these “little” waves aren’t just too boring for him.
