Each year on the MLK holiday my buddy Robert Willey and I walk the 7.5 miles around St. Mary’s Lake. I’m not exactly sure how this “tradition” originated for us, but Robert and I have now walked around the lake for at least the last 12 years or so.
Usually the weather is cooperative. Little chilly, but tolerable enough for a winter’s walk. Granted, there have been some years where it was so cold and rainy that I’ve tried to talk Robert out of going. However, unlike the kid here, Robert likes cold weather and doesn’t mind spending a couple hours out in it so we’ve not missed a year due to bad weather.
Interesting to note that we have never had to cancel due to snow. Based on our track record these past 12 years, guess that it doesn’t snow much in mid-January.
