Speaking of Cali’s Restaurant, this past Saturday I had my first of the season request from someone asking about local restaurants.  I consulted my “cheat sheet” that I pass along to folks who make such inquiries and noted that I had not updated it from last year to include Cali’s.  Since I just finished doing so, I wanted to show you what I pass along to folks looking for some place to eat here in South County:

When people ask me which one I would recommend I always do a little dance about how they can’t go wrong at any of them.  I tell them that Cali’s has generous sandwiches at good prices and you can get in and out without any delays; Spinnaker’s is the nicest of them all with the best views of the water and their food is very good;  Scheible’s is like an old timey fish/crab house with great crabettes (or crab balls if you prefer;)  Courtney’s has the freshest fish entrees since Tommy catches it in his nets and Julie serves it up very well.

Having said that about Courtney’s however, I always try to warn people that Courtney’s may be a bit slow service-wise, the owner may be a little cranky and the decor inside is “rustic” at best, but the food is excellent.  Even after I tell them all this, three out of five folks will come back with “Think we’ll try Courtney’s.”
